Meet your Guide

Head guide Matt Breach has had a passion for the great outdoors since he was 5 years old. Originally from the Bay of Plenty, Matt's passion has now grown into over 30 years experience in hunting, fishing and diving across Aotearoa, New Zealand.

 

Since 2011 Matt has been owner and head guide at Total Safari NZ and loves sharing time with like-minded individuals, who want to experience the New Zealand outdoors the way the locals do.  

Of Māori decent (Ngāti Porou) and also being a Te Reo (Māori language) teacher, Matt is able to provide a unique insight into hunting and gathering from the perspective of tangata whenua (people of the land). Kaitiakitanga and Manaakitanga (guardianship over the environment and caring for visitors) are core to the Total Safari Philosophy.

Matt and his crew are able to tailor make experiences to help people put more "ticks" on their bucket lists. Whether it is trophy stags or line pulling beasts from the deep, they will put you in the right place at the right time, to ensure your enjoyment and success.
